Lo Specchio is a type B social cooperative founded in 1995 in Milan, with the aim of promoting the social inclusion of people with mental disabilities through the activation of job placement and professional training courses, managed in collaboration with local authorities. The mission of the Cooperative is to develop the potential of these individuals through work, promoting the acquisition of manual skills and abilities as tools for personal and professional growth. The cooperative mainly deals with the assembly of mechanical and electromechanical components and the packaging of medical-health devices. Furthermore, since 2022, Lo Specchio has launched the “SCOOK – Cucina Sociale” project dedicated to the production of meals and the preparation of catering.
From today, Lo Specchio can count on the support of Fondazione Social Venture Giordano Dell’Amore (or “FSVGDA”), which has invested €150,000 as part of “Impact4Coop”, the FSVGDA and Fondazione Cariplo program that is investing €2.2 MLN/€ to contribute to the capital strengthening and development of the cooperative sector.
The investment was made with the aim of supporting the growth and achievement of the social impact objectives of the Cooperative, which is committed to offering employment opportunities aimed at vulnerable individuals and which represents a concrete opportunity for economic development for the benefit of local communities and the territory.
The capital increase was also achieved with the use of the “Impact Grant”, an innovative financial instrument that allows part of the investment to be transformed into a non-repayable contribution, in the event of the achievement of pre-agreed social impact objectives.
