Botteghe di Quartiere

Botteghe di Quartiere S.r.l. is a social enterprise, active since 2019, which operates with the aim of giving a redemption opportunity to young NEETs, through training, professionalization and entrepreneurship as tools to facilitate exit from the state of unemployment. The activities carried out by Botteghe di Quartiere mainly concern the first level maintenance of properties and the company butler service.

The company has as its reference partner the Associazione Amici di Edoardo ETS, active since 1997 in the promotion and management of socio-cultural activities dedicated to young people with the aim of combating educational poverty. The other partners of the social enterprise are Enrico Saraval – current president of the Board of Directors of the social enterprise – Luciano Balbo, Don Gino Rigoldi, Paolo Colonna and Rosella Milesi. Leonardo Malvasi is a founding member and operating director. Since 2022, the individual members, as per the project, have given part of their shares to the first 8 young workers of the Bottega.

With the aim of supporting the high-impact activities promoted by Botteghe di Quartiere, Fondazione Social Venture Giordano Dell’Amore has invested €100,000 in the S.r.l. Impresa Sociale, also through the use of an “Impact Grant”: an innovative financial instrument that allows part of the investment to be transformed into a non-repayable contribution, upon reaching pre-agreed social impact objectives.

Impact

Botteghe di Quartiere aims to contribute to the reduction of youth unemployment, focusing its efforts on NEETs, young people who are not engaged in study or work paths: a growing phenomenon that in Lombardy affects 15.7% of young people between 15 and 24 years old (before the pandemic, in 2019, it was 12.6%). The social enterprise, in fact, offers the boys and girls hired opportunities to redeem themselves from disadvantaged conditions, while offering useful and sought-after services in the neighborhoods in which they live and throughout Milan. The 25 employees employed to date carry out the following tasks:
  • home maintenance services: construction (painters and decorators), systems (plumbers and electricians) and wood restoration
  • services to companies: company butler, a service that allows company employees to reconcile the needs of private life with those of working life, carrying out a series of errands for them

The impact that Botteghe di Quartiere intends to generate is threefold: supporting the enhancement of internal staff skills, offering continuous training opportunities in different and complementary areas, creating a stimulating work environment, in which employees can develop new skills, both technical and transversal; integrating technical and managerial knowledge into staff training, so that each employee can face professional challenges with updated skills that are appropriate to market changes, thus strengthening the company’s competitiveness and the value of human resources; facilitating the entry of young NEETs into the job market, through initiatives that promote their inclusion and valorization. The proposed solutions aim to reduce access barriers and create personalized training paths, capable of developing skills required by the market.
